1986 Trailer financed through the Australian Film Commission
This clip was produced before I got to animate on Roger Rabbit in London in 1987/88 ; We basically made it the 3 of Us Brenda and Roland Cha and myself. We got some freelance people from the Australian industry to execute some backgrounds, clean ups, painting etc...It was inspired by the Don Bluth style of the period. We didn't have prior knowledge of the Disney Animation techniques eventhough we craved for that type of quality. The output was horrendous over the 3 months period. More like 2/3 scenes a day except for the very early ones. Subsequently we got approached by 3 different potential producers in the following months. It was even taken to Cannes that year. But the crisis hit Australia the following year in 1987. The entire support to the Film Industry disappeared over night ( the TBA 33 Act ); Hence our move to London to work on roger rabbit. This project need an entire overhaul to appeal to today's taste, but the fundamentals are still right.
